Waterloo Mosaic Mural

A collective artistic creation project

This special project consists of creating a mosaic mural collaboratively with students, community members, and local artists. Spanning a 14‑week period, the project covers every stage of creation—from concept to unveiling—resulting in a unique and unifying public artwork that celebrates the Town of Waterloo.

The process began with a participatory brainstorming workshop open to all, facilitated by Les Ateliers créatifs W. This workshop allowed participants to share their vision of Waterloo through conversations, stories, and drawings. The ideas gathered—landscapes, meaningful places, memories, and symbols—served as the foundation for the artistic design of the mural.

Guided by professional artists, the project then took shape through various creative phases, leading to the production and installation of the mural. This collective artwork reflects the imagination, history, and sense of belonging of the community, while highlighting civic engagement and the unifying power of art.
